Photo Tips for Photographing Babies
Taking photos of babies allows you to capture fleeting moments that
you will treasure as the children get older. Babies grow up faster than
you can imagine, so you want to be sure to get those precious memories
down on film (or memory cards, as is more common nowadays). Keep in
mind these photo tips to get cute and wonderful shots of babies.
All the Right Angles
Finding
the right angle when photographing babies is not always easy. You
should adjust your angle or position to orchestrate the perfect shot;
the baby isn't going to be much help with the maneuvering. Position
yourself low to the ground so you are at the same level as the baby. If
you're finding it difficult taking photos of the baby while lying on
the floor, use the zoom feature on your digital camera to get a closer
shot or position yourself in close proximity to the baby. You may also
need someone to assist. Have your helper position the baby in an
accommodating position for the digital photo. Ask them to place the
baby over their shoulder or hold the baby in a sitting position so it
is easier for you to get the shot you're looking for.
Keep Your Digital Camera Handy
You
never know when the baby will make a cute face or discover a new body
part. You'll also find yourself staring at the baby not believing how
perfect they are. When these moments occur, grab that digital camera
and capture the moment and memory. The moments you think you will never
forget may be difficult to recall when your child is running, jumping
and starting to explore on their own.
Take Photos Frequently
The
changes in a baby's appearance happen quite rapidly and you may not
actually notice the changes have occurred. Taking photos often will
document the development and progress your baby has made. You are
better off taking one or two photos on a daily basis than an arsenal of
photos once or twice a month. Compare digital photos from the beginning
and end of any given month during your baby's first year and you will
be shocked by the significant amount of changes the baby has made.
Try Black and White
Digital
cameras usually have features that allow you to take photos in black
and white or sepia. If your digital photos were originally captured in
color, you can always convert the photos to black and white during the
editing process. Black and white photos soften the look of the
composition and allow the viewer to focus on the subject, your baby,
without focusing on the color of the outfit or items in the background.
Black and white photos look especially nice when you're capturing a
specific feature of the baby, a close up of their hand, foot or their
cute smile.
Of course, babies don't stay young and innocent
forever, so snap as many digital photos as you can! When the babies
grow up to be adults, you'll all be thankful for the collection of baby
photos.
