Sending Christmas Photo Cards of Your Child is Not an Act of Vanity
Some proud parents never think twice about what kind of greeting
cards to send at Holiday time. The increasing volume of personal photo
Christmas cards being mailed out attests to that. Some parents,
however, feel that sending photo cards of their incredibly handsome
children would be just too self-indulgent. Parents who overthink
themselves this way can cause great distress to the grandparents in
these families.
First of all, grandparents never have enough
family photos of their adored grandchildren. This is especially so if
their relationship is long-distance. Although grandparents would often
like to share their joy by sending photos of their little darlings to
everyone they know, they usually don't have copies with which they're
willing to part, unless they are computer savvy and have digital photos
they can email.
Viewed from this perspective, sending photo
Christmas greeting cards of your children is an act of kindness toward
your own parents. One might even consider this an investment in the
mental, emotional, and therefore physical, good health of grandparents.
When phone calls and notes reach them, exclaiming over the exceptional
good looks of their grandchildren, your parents will stand straighter,
see and hear more clearly, and bubble with happy spirit. When others
see the photo holiday greeting cards and tell them of the delightfully
apparent family resemblance, and the obviously fine job of parenting
being done by their progeny, your parents will raise even you and your
spouse to a higher pedestal of their personal esteem.
And,
because photo Christmas cards extend a warm and personal connection
between you and your photo card recipients, photo holiday cards are a
win-win-win decision!
